What sets me apart as The Maths GP compared to other maths tutors is my passion for social justice and the recognition that many disadvantaged students face barriers that hinder their academic progress. Education is a fundamental right that should be accessible to all, regardless of financial circumstances. Unfortunately, many disadvantaged students and their families face barriers when it comes to accessing quality tutoring services. However, mathsgp is committed to breaking down these barriers through a range of strategies.
By providing access to membership benefits, mathsgp aims to empower disadvantaged students and bridge the gap in their mathematical education. One of the primary benefits of becoming a member of mathsgp is the access to a vast array of high-quality resources. These resources include video tutorials, practice questions, and interactive quizzes, all designed to enhance students' understanding of mathematical concepts.
Every student learns at their own pace, and mathsgp recognises this by offering a personalised learning experience. Through the platform, students can track their progress, identify areas of weakness, and focus on specific topics that require additional attention. This tailored approach ensures that disadvantaged students receive the support they need, enabling them to catch up with their peers and build a solid foundation in mathematics.
Disadvantaged students often face various challenges outside the classroom, such as limited access to resources, unstable home environments, or irregular schedules. These challenges are addressed by mathsgp in providing 24/7availability and flexibility to topic-based resources. Students can access the resources whenever and wherever they need, allowing them to fit their learning around their unique circumstances. This flexibility ensures that disadvantaged students are not left behind due to external factors beyond their control.
The main issue for many disadvantaged students to access intervention, however, is affordability. I understand the financial constraints that many disadvantaged students face, and to address this, I actively liaise with schools to explore opportunities for accessing Pupil Premium funding. Pupil Premium funding is a government initiative aimed at providing additional support to students from low-income families. By working closely with schools, mathsgp will explore opportunities to ensure that disadvantaged students in positions of hardship have access to the membership benefits provided by the platform regardless of their financial position.
We all have decisions to make when it comes to making effective use of our disposable incomes though!. On average, UK households spend £25.40 per week on takeaways - that’s a staggering £1321 per year! Meanwhile the average spend on education is just £4.90 per week, or £255 per year. The disparity is much wider in families from lower socioeconomic backgrounds. I believe in a different kind of investment that lasts a lifetime and prepares students for a brighter future from Reception to A Level and beyond.
Please do not despair if you are unable to afford the tutoring intervention you'd like to provide for your children and are in receipt of state benefits as I'll provide the first couple of lessons free whilst aiming to enlist the support of schools via their Pupil Premium funds.
